Mr. Charlie "Cash" Freeman, age 81, of 123 Johnson Road, Troy, died Friday, July 27, 2012 at his home. Cash was born March 10, 1931 at Montgomery County, NC, the son of Charlie and Nannie Cagle Freeman. He was a life-long member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Troy. Cash was a retired supervisor with fifty-five years of service at Capel, Inc. After retirement Cash would spend much of his time on the rivers and lakes fishing. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, Cash is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Sherry Hines, two brothers, Robert "Cotton" Freeman and William Thomas Freeman, one sister, Mary Freeman Nordan. He is survived by two daughters: Margaret F. Preslar and husband, Jimmy of Troy, Helen F. Pilkenton of Thomasville; two grandchildren: Charles Miller and wife, Angela of Thomasville, Brad Wright and wife, Monica of Troy; three great-grandchildren: Melina Miller of Thomasville, Jordan Wright of Independence, Missouri and Christopher Hines of Leland; one sister: Jewel F. Freeman of Seagrove and one step-grandson: Jordan Hunsucker of Troy. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 28, 2012 from 6 pm - 8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at the home of Margaret and Jimmy Preslar, 100 Taft Street, Troy. A funeral service will be Sunday at 3 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 412 Bell Street, Troy with Rev. Mark Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Southside Cemetery, Troy. Pugh-Troy Funeral Home is assisting the Freeman family.
