Sgt. Shane Scott Pease, age 24, of Fort Bragg, died Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Chapel Hill, N.C. Sgt. Pease was born January 28, 1987 at Troy, NC, the son of Jimmy Scott Pease and the late Elizabeth Parker Pease. He was of the Baptist faith. Sgt. Pease joined the Army in August, 2006 and after completing basic training and Airborne school at Fort Benning, Ga. he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team. He was deployed with the 82nd Airborne Division in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from March to October 2007 and again from December 2008 to November 2009. Sgt. Pease is a lifetime member of Alpha Company having served two combat tours with (Alpha Company.) His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal with an oak leaf cluster, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal with a bronze star device, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge and the Parachutist Badge. "With his hard work, dedication and loyalty to those with whom he served, he epitomized the word Paratrooper," his unit commander, Cpt. Michael Orloff, said in a statement. "These are part of what made him an asset to Alpha Company's combat power. He will be sorely missed." He is survived by his father: Jimmy Scott Pease of Macclenny, FL; five sisters: Barbra Nicole Pease of Hanover, PA, Brenda Rena of Wink, TX, Felicia Pease Crawford of Gallatin, TN, Colleen Elizabeth Pease of Wink, TX and Somona Sandoval of Decatur, MI; one brother: James Scott Pease of Portage, MI. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy. A funeral service will be Friday, December 2nd at 2pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home with Chaplain Cpt. John McDougald officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the US Army stationed at Fort. Bragg. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home.
