John Ralph Floyd

John Ralph Floyd, age 86, of 616 Floyd Farm Road, Troy died Friday, June 17, 2011 at Manor Care Health Services, Pinehurst. Mr. Floyd was born May 25, 1925 in Troy, NC, the son of John Burchie and James Edith Allen Floyd. He was a retired employee with forty-six years of service from the NC Dept. of Transportation. He was a member of Shady Grove Independent Christian Church and a US Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kay Floyd Hittepole, two brothers, Joseph Heath Floyd and Bill Gray Floyd and one sister, Martha Louise Lewis. He is survived by his wife: Doris Allen Floyd of Troy; one grandson, Mark Hittepole of Troy; one sister, Mary Alda Allen of Eldorado and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3 pm at Shady Grove Independent Christian Church, 2519 Okeeweemee Road, Star, NC. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 pm at Shady Grove Independent Christian Church, with Pastor Jeff Freeman and Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be in the church cemetery.
