Sara Covington Key

Sara Covington Key, age 84, formerly of Mt. Gilead died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Autumn Care Nursing & Rehabilitation, Biscoe. Mrs. Key was born December 13, 1925 in Richmond County, NC, the daughter of William J. "Jeff" and French (Allred) Covington. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mt. Gilead, homemaker and a former employee of United Mills of Mt. Gilead. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lafon Key, two brothers, Robert E. Covington and wife, Ethel and Ralph A. Covington. She is survived by one brother, Tom Covington and wife Marion of Ellerbe; sister-in-law, Jane Covington of Biscoe and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the home of Tom & Marion Covington, 3122 N US Hwy 220 Ellerbe. A memorial graveside service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery, Ellerbe with Rev. Jim Harris officiating. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 106 E. First St., Mt. Gilead, NC 27306.
