Rev. Eric Duane Tulowitzky (Pop) Rev. Eric Duane Tulowitzky (known to everyone as Pop), 73, of Autumn Care Nursing Home of Biscoe, NC walked through the pearly gates of Heaven to be with his Lord on Friday afternoon, January 15, 2010. Rev. Duane Tulowitzky was born in Elwood, Indiana, to the late Eric William Tulowitzky and Leota Goins Tulowitzky on May 26, 1936. In Anderson, Indiana, he was united in marriage to Beverly Elaine Block on August 22, 1958. Rev. Duane Tulowitzky graduated in 1959 with a B.S. in Religion from Frankfort Pilgrim Holiness College, Frankfort, Indiana. He starting preaching in 1953 and pastored his first church in 1958. He has served as a minister in the Pilgrim Holiness Church from 1958 to 1968, pastored churches in the Church of the Bible Covenant from 1968 to 1971, and then pastored churches in the Church of the Nazarene from 1971 until his retirement from active ministry in 2001. He pastored churches in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina and West Virginia. He held evangelistic revivals and youth revivals in numerous other states. Rev. Tulowitzky served as chaplain at the Five Oaks Manor Nursing Home in Concord, NC, and served as Visitation Minister for the Norwood Church of the Nazarene, Norwood, NC. His hobbies include writing, puzzles, collecting lighthouses, reading, fan of Indiana Hoosier Basketball, ACC Basketball and the Atlanta Braves as well as various other sports activities and spending precious time with his family and friends. Rev. Tulowitzky contributed as the writer of the "Thoughts for the Day" column in The Post Newspaper located in Montgomery County, NC. Rev. Duane Tulowitzky is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly; his sons, Timothy Duane of Star, NC., and Gregory Keith of Elkton, MD.; two brothers, Max William Tulowitzky of Peoria, AZ; David Lee Tulowitzky of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and two sisters, Lolita Doris (Tulowitzky) Maddox of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Cherilyn Gayle (Tulowitzky) Chafin of Alexandria, Indiana; four grandsons and 4 great-granddaughters and other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eric William Tulowitzky and Leota Goins Tulowitzky. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at the Norwood Church of the Nazarene, 424 Flynn Road, Norwood, NC. with Rev. Kenneth Myers officiating and with Rev. Mark Barnes, Rev. Doug Beadle and Rev. Vaughn Hohn assisting. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at the Pugh Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC,. and from 12 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday afternoon at the Norwood Church of the Nazarene. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society ( www.nationalmssociety.org) or the Norwood Church of the Nazarene Memorial Fund.
