William Howell "Bill" Kearns, age 65, of 211 N. Main St., Troy, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 239 N. Russell Street, Troy with Rev. Bobby Tyson and Rev. Vernon McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Southside Cemetery, Troy. Mr. Kearns was a native of Stanly County, was a graduate of the Cincinnati College of Embalming, and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was retired Manager of Pugh-Troy Funeral Home after 33 years of service and was dedicated to the service of others. Bill was past president of the Troy Rotary Club and was a former board member of the American Red Cross in Montgomery County, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Harrison and Elizabeth Howell Kearns. Bill was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. He is survived by his sons, Philip Kearns and his wife Allison of Winston-Salem, NC; Bill Kearns and his wife Melinda of Clemmons, NC; grandchildren, Parker Kearns, Mason Kearns, and Sarah Kearns; former wife, Gaynell Kearns of Winston-Salem, NC; stepmother, Madge Vanhoy Kearns of Troy, NC and numerous family and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 15, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC.
