Beatrice Austin Bowers

Beatrice "Bea" Austin Bowers, age 81, of 681 Biscoe Rd.,Troy, died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Mercy Hospital, Charlotte. Bea was born September 21, 1926 at Norwood, NC, the daughter of the late Jesse Ray and the late Deletta (Barbee) Austin. Bea was a native of Stanly County, but lived most of her life in Troy. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Troy where she was a member of the Sr's Together Club and served as treasurer of Circle #1. She was a former teacher's assistant at Troy Elementary School and a former bookkeeper for Quik Chek, Inc. She was also a member of the Troy Woman's Club and the Troy Mothers Club. She is survived by her husband Walter H. "Bill" Bowers of the home; one daughter: Laura Bowers of Troy; one son: Walter H. Bowers, Jr. of Blairsville, GA; 2 grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 401 E. Main Street, Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church with Dr. Phil McRae officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery, S. Main St., Troy.
