Ruby Gray Gibson Hunsucker

Ruby Gray Gibson Hunsucker, 89, of Troy, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy, NC.

Ruby was born in Troy, NC, the daughter of the late Hiram Gibson and the late Monnie Atkins Gibson.  She worked in textiles for over 50 years.  She was a lifelong member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School and was a faithful choir member for over 75 years.  Ruby loved gardening and was known to have a green thumb.  Ruby had a sweet spirit and was loved by all that knew her. 

Ruby is survived by three sons: Charles Hunsucker (Frances) of Winston Salem, Jeffrey Hunsucker (Cynthia) of Troy, and Kevin Hunsucker (Elsie) of Troy; sisters: Patricia Talbert (Clinton) of Troy, Yvonne McIntyre of Troy, and Joyce Jarrell of Troy; grandchildren: Kelly Callahan, Justin Hunsucker, and Brent Hunsucker; great grandchildren: Noah and James Callahan.  She was preceded in death by her husband Homer Hunsucker; brothers: Lonnie Gibson and Hiram Gibson, Jr.; sisters Frances Kelly and Shirley Elam.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 819 Mt. Carmel Church Rd., Troy, NC.  The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with the Rev. Rodney Holmes officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
