Jerry Lee Morton, age 77, of Troy passed away Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Atrium Health Stanly, Albemarle.
Mr. Morton was born June 30, 1943 the son of the late Frank Morton and the late Morning Lemmonds Morton. He was a retired mechanic from Capel Rug Mill.
Jerry was a good husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was known to be a hard worker all his life and generally known as a "good man". He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. He also loved fishing and won several tournaments over the years.
He is survived by his wife: Joyce McNeill Morton; two daughters: Darlene M. Whitley and Tammy C. Davis both of Troy; three sisters: Lottie Earnhart, Josephine Morton, and Sarah Tyndall of Troy; two brothers: Foy Morton of Asheboro, and Pink Morton of Troy;
Grandchildren: Ashley Moody, Sam Miller, Megan Whitley, Dillon Whitley; Great Grandchildren: Tripp, Jay, Reese, Madilyn, and Brinley. He was preceded in death by his Granddaughter, Natalie Miller, sisters, Myrtle Freeman, and Molly Class, and brothers Tom Morton, J.C. Morton, and Omp Morton, and Great Grandchild, Stevie Skylar.
Mr. Morton's body will lie in state on Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC. A graveside service will be Sunday at 2:00 PM at Uwharrie United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3027 NC Hwy. 109 North, Troy with Rev. William Saunders officiating.
