Ruby Lee Davis, age 97, of Troy passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.
Mrs. Davis was born November 20, 1922 in Montgomery County, the daughter of the late Elden McLeod and the late Lillie (Voncannon) McLeod.
She was a self-employed seamstress for over 40 years. She was a bubbly, easy going, loving wife and mother. She enjoyed playing guitar and singing. She was known to be an excellent cook and everyone loved her biscuits and persimmon pudding.
She is survived by her husband: Robert G. (Bob) Davis; daughters: Marie Hurley (Mitchell) of Troy and Frankye Ann Hill (Gilbert) of Troy; son: Norman Eugene Hardister of Troy; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren; sister: Loretta Garner of Robbins; brothers: Paul McLeod of Robbins, Odell McLeod of Seagrove, Hubert McLeod (Mae) of Star, and Rayvon McLeod of Asheboro. She was preceded in death by her first husband: N. B. Hardister; her daughter: Mary Jane Hall; brother: Rex McLeod; sisters: Edna Reynolds, Alma Cagle, and Grace Toler; and great grandson: Adam Birckhead.
Ms. Davis will lie in state at Eleazer Methodist Church, Eleazer Church Road, Troy, NC on Saturday, May 9, 2020 from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM at Eleazer Methodist Church, with Rev. Jimmy Wansley officiating. Burial following in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mitchell and Marie Hurley.
