Frances Corine Jordan, from Rose Haven, MD, died peacefully at her home in Troy, NC on April 19, 2020, at the age of 93.
Frances was born October 18, 1926 in Bennings, Washington D.C., the daughter of the late Frances and Nicholas Keyser. She attended Hyattsville High School and after graduation was employed at the Library of Congress, several local banks, and later worked for 27 years at her beloved "Herrington on the Bay". She was a lifetime member of the marina, lifetime member of Herring Bay Yacht Club, member of American Legion Post 260, and of Ruth Chapter 7 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Jordan married Herbert Jordan and moved to Rose Haven in 1975. She was considered the matriarch of the neighborhood. Frances lived life well and on her own terms. She was a fount of knowledge about D.C. history and had an abiding love for the Chesapeake Bay and Herrington Harbor. She is remembered by friends as the life of the party, sharing the funniest stories, making us laugh, and always dancing.
She is survived by two daughters: Rebecca Lamb of Dunkirk, MD and Darlene Martin of Troy, NC; her brother: Buddy Keyser of Port Republic, MD; 8 grandchildren: Robert Tyler, Melanie Neubeiser (Tyler), Edward Tyler, Frank Lamb, Joseph Lamb, and Andrew, Evan, and Lael Martin. She also had 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter: Linda Tyler; elder brother: Jimmy Keyser; husbands: Joseph Thompson and Herb Jordan; and companion: Bill Durity.
Due to the guidelines in effect for the Covid-19 virus, a celebration of her amazing life will be held by the family later this summer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Stanly County & the Uwharrie, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
