Obituary of Ronald Alton Lewis
Ronald Alton Lewis, age 69, of Troy passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019.
Mr. Lewis was born February 12, 1950 in Randolph County, the son of Ed Lewis and Lois Nixon Lewis. He served in the Army Reserves and later worked for Capel Mills in Troy as a Supervisor for 42 years prior to retirement. Ronald loved yard work and had a green thumb for gardening. Ronald was well known for his officiating, being a Sanctioned Official in basketball, softball, and volleyball. He had officiated 3 State Championships in softball. He was always easy going and found joy in everything he did and everyone around him. If Ronald was officiating, you knew it was going to be a fair, well-called game. He was an honest man who had a smile for everyone and was loved by all that knew him. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grand-daddy, coach, and friend and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife: Wanda Lewis; daughter: Amanda Harper (Steven) of Charlotte; grandchildren: Aria Harper and Theodore Harper, who were his prized possessions; sisters: Sandra Greene of Candor and Penny Sneed (Stan) of Candor; and his canine companion Ricky. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Gail Ferguson.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 27, 2019 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home Chapel, 211 North Main Street, Troy with Rev. Russ Brown officiating.
