Alfrey Jay Bruton

Alfrey Jay Bruton, age 70, of Candor died Friday, July 19, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Bruton was born November 5, 1948 in Montgomery County, NC, the son of the late Ira and the late Mary Lee Roberts Bruton. He was previously employed by Maynard Frame Shop and Carl Burrow Landscaping. Jay was a happy, loving father and Papa who was an outdoorsman and loved fishing. He also loved spending time at Better Burger & NAPA Auto Parts of Troy. His favorite past time was dancing.

He is survived by son: Jason Bruton and wife, Stacey of Troy, NC; brother: Lee Bruton of Oxford, Mississippi; grandson: Noah Bruton of Troy, NC. He was predeceased by brother Ira "Nookie" Bruton and sister Frances Spivey.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 22, 2019 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC, and at other times at the home of Jason, Stacey, and Noah, 2071 Love Joy Rd., Troy, NC. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Holly Mount Baptist Church, Holly Mount Church Road, Mt. Gilead with Rev. Ben Hall officiating.

Burial will follow in McRae Family Cemetery, Mt. Gilead.
