Obituary of Shirley Ann Freeman
Shirley Ann Greene Freeman, age 82, of Candor joined her Savior in heaven on May 8, 2019 peacefully as portions of the book of Psalms were read to her. She left her mortal body at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro, NC, and received her incorruptible body as she reached the arms of Jesus.
Mrs. Freeman was born on August 18, 1936 in Montgomery County. She was the daughter of the late Maston Greene and the late Ada Campbell Greene. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Her first priority was always her relationship with the Lord. She loved people, not things and always gave to those around her. She loved to read her Bible, sing to Jesus, talk with her Heavenly Father, and worship God. She loved spending time with her family and friends; and she enjoyed gardening, painting, and laughter. She lived a modest life of selfless service and gentle kindness.
"Nana," as she was known to most, lived a life of service to God and others, she truly had a servant's heart with faith that was bigger than the challenges she faced. She was not one to complain and counted all a joy knowing that when her earthly life was over, she would join her husband, Winfred, and loved ones around the throne of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred, of 38 years. She leaves behind her son, Lonnie Freeman and wife, Sheila of Knoxville, TN; her loving daughter Phyllis Kivett, and husband Rev. Terry Kivett of Candor, NC; son Billy Freeman of Candor NC; seven grandchildren who were her joy, Debby Douglas of Candor, NC; Matthew Freeman, of Charlotte, NC; Alex Freeman of Charlotte, NC; Ashley Edwards and her husband Johnny of Troy, NC; Lucas Freeman, of Charlotte, NC, Nikki Bailey and husband Mike of Hilo, HI; and Cheyenne Freeman of Candor, NC. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren: Brenya Bailey, Justin Edwards, Matthew Schley, and Rosie Edwards; one great-great granddaughter: Gabrielle Edwards; brothers: David Greene, Jr., of Troy, NC and Marshall Greene and wife Shirley, of Asheboro, NC, as well as several close relatives who have helped care for her, and countless friends and family members who will carry on in her absence. She was preceded in death by 6 sisters and 5 brothers.
Her prayer is that those left behind will carry the banner for Christ and meet her in heaven around the throne of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Hickory Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church, 3934 Pekin Rd., Candor, NC, from 10:30 to 11:45 AM. A Funeral Service will follow beginning at 12:00 noon with the Rev. Joseph Yarborough and the Rev. Scott Leary officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the nurses, caregivers, doctors, and medical professionals who she loved and loved her. Their work is greatly appreciated and was not unnoticed. We pray that God will continue to bless you as you have blessed Nana and her family.
In lieu of flowers, Nana would ask you to make a donation to Hickory Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church, 3934 Pekin Rd., Candor, NC 27229, in which she loved and labored.
